Out on the veranda
Well that was fun.
Power went out in our neighborhood tonight (no surprise considering that Duke Energy reported an all-time record usage of electricity today because of the 100º+ temps in North Carolina, and warnings that the strain was too much for their grids), and so we sat over on the neighbor's porch and ate all their ice cream sandwiches before they melted and drank all their beer before it went warm.
Even thought the power was restored within about 2 hours, we simply turned off the lights and continued to sit out in the dark, talking and drink into we had had our fill.

Is it just me, or is this the worst frakking heat and humidity ever? I've been back down here since 2002, and I can't remember it ever being this bad in that time-frame. I was going to work at 7:00 am and when I stepped out of my house my glasses steamed up from the 2000% humidity. Geesh.
